KILLING / SATANIK CONTENTS
The first run of the Italian and French Killing/Satanik series were digest-sized photo novels and followed a regular format. After each full-length exploit of the King of Crime and Dana,
you’d usually find a short pulp fiction novella, gag cartoons, sexy pin
ups of models and actresses, ‘Caricaturoscopes,’ Actors Galleries, a
long-running History of Torture series (illustrated) and a letters page. The 2007 SADISTIK Pin-Up Crime Calendar features 12 different covers, color pin-ups and action pages from the original editions!
A selection of exciting splash pages from various issues, all destined to be translated into English as Sadistik!
Every issue featured cheesecake pin-ups of models and international
actresses and would often profile the actors from the photo novels.
Pictured above, from various back covers, are Jayne Mansfield, Luciana Paoli, Raquel Welch and Erna Schurer.
Caricaturoscopes were a series of celebrity caricatures by the cartoonist Mangini. Pictured above are actress Ursula Andress (in fine 007 Dr. No form), Bond singer Shirley Bassey, actress/singer Francois Hardy and actress/singer Lola Falana
(before she was a hit in the US, she was big in Europe). The other gag
cartoons in the magazine were bootlegged from American mens’ magazines
and included the work of Archie Comics’ Dan DeCarlo, Mad’s Dave Berg and Cracked’s Vic Martin and Bill Ward (aka the King of the Pin Ups).

A New Taschen Book gets the SADISTIK SEAL OF APPROVAL!
A fun new 352 page book about cartoonist Bill Ward with over 600 illustrations is now out! And what does the King of Crime have to do with the King of Pin-Ups, besides beautiful women? Bill Ward's cartoons, along with those of his fellow artists, Dan DeCarlo, Bill Wenzel and others, appeared in the Diabolikal Super-Kriminal's original Italian and French editions (seee article in SADISTIK 2)! What's more, the writer of Sadistik, Mort Todd, worked with Bill Ward at Cracked magazine and put out Bill's first art collection W.O.W.: The World of Ward. Mort also has some comments in this new book, The Wonderful World of Ward, compiled by famed photographer Eric Kroll. Here are some cartoon collections for sale!
“Torture and Man through the Ages” was a long-running and profusely
illustrated feature in the magazine and written by Sadistik creator
Luigi Naviglio. Later he contributed a new series, “Sadism and Man
Through the Ages.”
The letters page was fun, if not real, with responses coming from the King of Crime himself! Shown above are the letters pages from the Italian Killing No. 15 and the French Satanik No. 15. One is from G. Chietti in Napoli and the other from G. Chetton in Bourg la Reine. Both are the same letters with the same responses, but in different languages.
